Water color Series 2011- 2014
I Took this picture in 2009 in the conservatory building inside the Golden Gate Park During the Monarch Exhibit. Sadly, instead of enjoying myself I found it difficult to celebrate the containment of butterflies as I ventured behind panels that concealed buckets of dead butterflies. As a Michoacana the Icon of the monarch butterfly hold a priceless value of progress for my state, witnessing the imprisonment of such a great creature I was forced to paint the simple pleasure of approaching a still insect waiting for its death with out the ability to travel south for the big convening in Morelia Michoacan Mexico, the land were they reproduce, the land were my ancestors come from.
